Anger, depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counselling and treatment, we are able to help you recover motivation, perspective, and peace that you once had in your life.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. We can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of
healing.
Relationship counselling can be beneficial to couples who are looking to strengthen their emotional connection, in all stages of their relationship. Therapy sessions are held with both partners, and is a supportive place to discuss issues and solutions to better strengthen your relationship.

The excellent Sunshine Coast Anger-Management & Counselling program was developed by Ashley himself using evidence based, relevant psychological models and theories. Information was predominately gathered from Ashley's psychological studies at Deakin University, the University of Ballarat, and the Australian Institute of Professional Counselling.
Through intensive studies based on anger-management and related issues, we found that research of Steven Hayes - Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Aaron Beck - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Albert Ellis - Rational Emotive Therapy (RET), and Sigmund Freud (Psychoanalysis) were the most beneficial to help facilitate change in people's lives.
To suit clients unique and individual needs, Sunshine Coast Anger-Management & Counselling's holistic approach derives from therapies such as cognitive behavioural, acceptance and commitment, emotion focused, psychoanalysis, self-awareness, and talk therapy in general.
If you are after good, progressive results Sunshine Coast Anger Management And Counselling has an estimated success rate of 90%.

Q. I have not done counselling before and I feel uncomfortable about it. Is it normal to feel like this?
A. Often yes. You're not alone. But we understand that problems can sometimes make us feel we are all alone and overwhelmed. Feel at ease in knowing that most people at some stage(s) in their life do seek counselling. Many things can be achieved by talk therapy and support. Sometimes it's helpful just to hear a second opinion too.
Q. Do you do medicare rebates?
A. Unfortunately, there are no rebates available for anger management, behaviour change, relationship counselling, or general life issues. For severe mental health issues you could try going to a GP and getting a referral to a psychiatrist where depending on your circumstances you may get a rebate. However, often they don't specialise in the above mentioned areas, there is a long wait, sometimes up to six months, the rebates are rather limited anyway, and the process comes with ample paperwork.
Q. What is the difference between counselling/psychotherapy and psychology?
A. Psychology is the 'study' of the mind. Counselling is the 'treatment' of the mind by psychological rather than medical means. And psychotherapy is simply a more in depth form of counselling. If you are looking for change or improvement within yourself, those around you, and with your life in general, then talking things over with an experienced and caring professional is a step in the right direction.
Q. I have to go to court soon. Will I have to wait months for my certificate and sit with a group of people many times?
A. No, generally you will receive your certificate shortly after the sixth 'one on one' session. Group anger management programs conducted elsewhere could mean a three-month wait as their courses are booked on certain dates of the year that may not suit you. Our one on one service is efficient, effective, and convenient, as are our treating expert reports (if requested by your lawyer with informed client consent).
Q. My Lawyer/the courts are asking for a treating expert report upon completion of our sessions. Do you provide this service?
A. Yes. If required, reports are often necessary in serious matters such as assault charges, child custody issues, domestic and/or family violence disputes.
Q. Which is the best way to contact for an appointment?
A. By Phone please (Call 0417 144 794), and to leave a brief detailed MESSAGE, or even better a TEXT MESSAGE. If not straight away, you will be responded to usually within the hour. Thank-you.
